Market Spotlight: Denver

Known as the Mile High City, Denver has experienced substantial growth in the last few years and is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and it’s no surprise why. With a strong job market, pleasant climate and an abundance of activities, tourists are turning residents every day. In fact, Colorado is the second-fastest growing state in the U.S. Just take a look at some of the city’s highlights and you’ll see why.

For the Outdoor Enthusiast

By Car:

You could easily spend your entire free time enjoying some aspect of the outdoor beauty that is Denver and the nearby Rockies. With 359 hiking trails totaling over 300 miles, 150 lakes and 60 mountains over 12,000 feet, it’s no surprise Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most popular attractions in Colorado. Just 71 miles from Denver, the park is an easy day trip away. Between hiking, camping, horseback riding, fishing and wildlife viewing, to shopping and dining in the historic village of Estes Park, outdoors enthusiasts and casual visitors will find plenty to enjoy.

By Bike:

With more than 85 miles of paved bike trails, Denver offers no shortage of ways to see the sights while getting in a bit of exercise. With over 700 bikes for rent at 80-plus Denver B-Cycle bike stations, you don’t even have to worry about owning a bike.

The 30-mile Greenway Trail will take you along the South Platte River past city highlights such as Confluence Park, My Brother’s Bar (Denver’s oldest bar, frequented by writers from the Beat Generation), the Downtown Aquarium, the Children’s Museum of Denver, the Hudson Gardens and Chatfield State Recreation Area, where you can enjoy even more outdoor activities such as swimming, sailing and horseback riding.

Perhaps the most popular and scenic trail is the Cherry Creek Bike Path, which takes you 40 miles to the Cherry Creek State Recreation Area and ends in Franktown. Along the way you’ll pass everything from the 500-store Cherry Creek Shopping Center to the Four Mile House & Historic Park, home to the oldest structure in the Denver metro, where you can learn about the city’s early pioneers and Castlewood Canyon state park.

For the Sports Fan

Coors Field: Home of the Colorado Rockies baseball team, Coors Field is located in the heart of lower downtown. And, it offers far more than just baseball. From The Rooftop you have a great view of not only the field, but also downtown and the Rocky Mountains. While visiting The Rooftop, be sure to stop by the Tavern Ballpark. This restaurant is exactly a mile high and celebrates with a diverse 52 craft beers on tap.

Sports Authority Field at Mile High: Home to the 2016 world champions, the Denver Broncos’ season has kicked off. And it attracts devoted fans from far and wide. Not a football fan? The stadium keeps the entertainment going year-round with special events and concerts, so be sure to check out their website.

Extreme sports fan are certainly not in the minority in Denver, either. A plethora of options, from skiing and snowboarding (even indoor!) to rugby, BMX and mountain biking are available in and around Denver.

For the Music Lover

Ask anyone what the best concert venue in town is and you’ll get a resounding answer: Red Rocks Amphitheater. Known as a geological phenomenon, Red Rocks is the only naturally-occurring, acoustically perfect amphitheater in the world. Boasting the biggest acts in the music industry, this world-renowned stage features artists from all over the world. Outside of live music, Red Rocks features guided tours, hiking, biking, shopping and dining. Consisting of two, three hundred-foot monoliths, visitors gets a peek into 250 million years of plant and animal life.

Should you be relocating to the Denver metro area, you’re in good company – more than one in 10 Colorado households that filed a tax return in 2014 lived in a different state the year before, according to the Denver Post, with nearly one in five of those putting down roots in Denver. Unemployment is among the lowest of large metro areas in America. Hovering around three to four percent, forecasts indicate job growth will continue. With a strong public transportation system and a well-maintained highway system, getting around Denver is relatively easy. This grants residents many options when it comes to where they want to live. With 80 urban neighborhoods and a metropolitan comprised of several various-sized suburbs, there truly is something for everyone.
