National Ice Cream Day is this Sunday, so why not celebrate by making your own delicious, homemade ice cream? This simple recipe from allrecipes.com is easy to follow and makes a wonderful treat for you and your family or friends.
The steps are easy. We were able to whip up a batch of this tasty treat in a little over an hour. The longest part of the process is letting the mixture churn in the ice cream maker. First of all, to make your own ice cream, just chop up your fresh peaches, combine with your other ingredients, and then puree in a blender. If you’re using a small food processor, you may have to puree the mixture in batches. The last step is to pour the mixture into your ice cream maker. Likewise, the difference between frozen cream and soft, scoop-able ice cream is how much air you mix into your ingredients. Be sure to follow the specification on your machine.
- Chop up your peaches
- Combine ingredients (2 ½ pounds chopped peaches, ½ cup of white sugar and 1 pint half and half)
- Add remaining ingredients and churn (1 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 12-ounce can evaporated milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 2 cups of whole milk)
- Freeze and enjoy!
Don’t have an ice cream maker? We found this machine-less recipe from ebay that offers an elegant solution. The secret to this recipe is using a mixer to add air to the ingredients prior to freezing. If you don’t have an ice cream machine, give this recipe a try!
